Gifts are given by God..

I Corinthians 12 tells us “There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men. Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.”  The gifts include wisdom, knowledge, faith, gifts of healing, miraculous powers, prophecy, distinguishing between spirits, speaking in different kinds of tongues and interpretation of tongues.

Now the scripture says that the gifts are all important and they are all by the same spirit.  So why is it that we have people who say they posses some of these gifts abusing them?  There was a recent issue that happened with someone “prophe-lying” to a friend of mine.  If God gave you the gift of prophecy, do not use it to try and lure people to tell you the “truth” about something you just want to be nosey about.  God is not mocked, whatsoever you sow that shall you also reap. Jeremiah 28 has a story about a lying prophet who was uncovered and God told him he was going to die because of his lies.

The gifts are to be used to edify the body not tear them down.  If you think there is a problem, pray about it.  When God wants you to address the situation, he’ll give you what to say.
